What does the CMC title mean and how can it be obtained?

The accredited partner federations of the International Council of Management Consulting Institutes (ICMCI) – like the VTMSZ in Hungary – have the rights to give the CMC title to the competent consultants.

Though there can be differences in the conditions of obtaining and keeping the CMC titles at the different federations in small measure, the national federations accept the title of each other, reciprocal in their operating areas.

The owners of Certified Management Consultant title are around in the upper 1% of the management consultants, who possess grounded professional knowledge, accept and keep the ethical requirements of the trade and make the efforts to reach the requirements of obtaining the title, and the continuous process of meeting the needs of keeping it.

In Hungary since 1995 more than 200 management consultants obtained the title of CMC, among whom 145 go on keeping the title.

In the VTMSZ, the Board of the CMC Section, the so called CMC Committee (elected by the CMC members) approve the obtaining and keeping conditions of the title; the certification is done by the panels containing CMC titled members, according to the accredited procedure.

There is one occasion yearly to obtain the CMC title in Hungary. The certification process begins with an application in late autumn regularly, and the successful Applicants can take their CMC diplomas next spring.

The deadline of the application of certification of the 2011/2012 year is 14th November 2011. The Applicants need to meet all the requirement of obtaining the title before the deadline of the application and need to submit the complete application documentation.

The CMC title is given to a person, so the employer of the Applicant does not need to be a VTMSZ-member, but of course the employer is welcomed to VTMSZ with sending back the downloadable membership application form.

The certification is started by a pre-certification: The CMC Committee – in debated cases – calls the Applicants for an oral pre-interview. The Committee accept the application based on the documents, and the pre-interview, and inform the Applicants about the decision. After this the certification process can be started.
